NISTA

NISTA is an IT company with a strong focus on security technology, for which I work as a freelance designer. At the start of the project, NISTA had only a very limited media presence and no cohesive visual identity. A key part of my role was therefore to analyze the existing brand elements and develop them further into a clear, consistent visual system.

One of these core elements is the naming, which is derived from the founder’s name, Nico Stadie (NiSta). This was intentionally retained, along with the already established typeface and the fundamental color palette of red, black, and white. Rather than redefining the brand from scratch, the goal was to strengthen and refine what was already there.

While my project partner is currently building a new website and developing a social media design system, I am working on logo animations and additional design elements to ensure the brand is positioned clearly and consistently across digital platforms.

Brandboard

The originally used typeface appeared visually unbalanced and unstable in its proportions. To address this, I re-cut and refined the existing typography using Lucas number–based proportions, creating a more stable, precise, and confident appearance that better reflects the company’s technological focus. Based on this revised typography, I also developed an abstract “N” as a standalone logomark. This resulted in a variable visual identity that can adapt flexibly to different formats, screen sizes, and use cases.

The color system remains closely aligned with the original corporate design but was optimized for practical application. It was expanded with neutral tones as well as carefully balanced off-white and off-black shades to improve contrast, readability, and consistency across both digital and print media.

Based on these and further refinements, the brandboard was created as a central design foundation. Building on this system, additional applications such as business cards, stickers, and construction fence banners are continuously being developed to ensure a coherent and scalable brand presence.
